GUIDE / PLACEMENT + CALIBRATION
PUT EVERY
TRACKER IN PLACE.
Stable mounting and correct body assignments matter as much as tracker count. Use this guide to plan a RaptorVR set, identify each unit, and enter VRChat calibration with fewer surprises.
01 / START WITH THE LIMITS
WHAT VRCHAT LISTS.
VRChat's current documentation lists feet, knees, hip, chest, and elbow/shoulder tracking points, with a maximum of eight additional trackers beyond the headset and controllers.
RaptorVR is an alternate IMU-based path, not an officially supported VRChat hardware method. VRChat notes that alternate methods may work but are outside VRChat Support. Platform behavior can change, so check the official guide before setup.

03 / PHYSICAL MOUNTING
FIRM, COMFORTABLE, REPEATABLE.
- Keep the tracker flat. The enclosure should sit consistently against the intended body segment instead of twisting on a loose strap.
- Match left and right.Place paired thigh, ankle, or foot trackers at similar heights and orientations.
- Protect joints and circulation.Do not place hard edges directly over a joint or tighten a strap until it causes numbness, tingling, or pain.
- Label every unit.A small physical label makes later body assignment and troubleshooting much faster.
04 / ASSIGN + CALIBRATE
A CLEAN START EVERY SESSION.
- Power on and identify each tracker.Confirm the physical label before assigning a body location in the RaptorVR app.
- Verify the software body map.Make sure left/right and chest/hip roles are not swapped before opening VRChat calibration.
- Clear the area.Leave enough room to stand upright and move without hitting a wall, desk, or another person.
- Match your avatar.Use VRChat's calibration spheres and align your real feet, hip, and tracked upper-body points with the avatar.
- Look forward and finish calibration. An accurate height and a neutral upright pose help the avatar start aligned.
- Recalibrate after drift or strap movement. If a tracker shifts or the pose becomes off-axis, correct the mount and realign the system.
05 / COMMON PROBLEMS
CHECK THESE FIRST.
One leg moves like the other.
Check whether the left and right tracker assignments were swapped.
A body part slowly rotates away.
Check the strap for movement, then use the RaptorVR calibration or recalibration control.
Feet do not meet the floor.
Verify VRChat height, avatar proportions, playspace calibration, and the physical foot or ankle positions.
Movement feels delayed.
Check 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi quality, network congestion, and whether the PC and trackers share the intended local network.
The avatar bends strangely.
Try a well-proportioned avatar and review its full-body rigging; tracker hardware cannot correct every avatar-rig issue.
A tracker disappears.
Check power, battery charge, network connection, and its status in the RaptorVR app before recalibrating.
